1. PURPOSE
[ ] Define the business outcome and information to transfer.
[ ] Identify the source, destination and allowed direction.
[ ] Identify any application that requires a reply or remote control.

2. PRODUCT FIT
[ ] Confirm exact hardware model, firmware and gateway software versions.
[ ] Verify physical direction enforcement and all management / auxiliary paths.
[ ] Confirm supported connectors, versions, authentication and data semantics.
[ ] Measure application throughput, peak bursts and latency; do not equate port speed with usable throughput.
[ ] Understand buffering, loss, duplication, delivery evidence and recovery.
[ ] Check power, rack, temperature, redundancy and maintenance requirements.

3. ASSURANCE
[ ] Obtain the actual certificate, security target and evaluated configuration where required.
[ ] Check validity / status and whether the proposed configuration is covered.
[ ] Distinguish a certification target from an awarded certification.
[ ] Check any tender, national or customer approval requirements.
[ ] Verify supplier / OEM role and origin claims against supporting evidence.

4. ACCEPTANCE AND OWNERSHIP
[ ] Agree a representative POC and measurable acceptance criteria.
[ ] Assign operational ownership, alert handling, updates and support.
[ ] Record deployment dependencies, licensing and recurring costs.
[ ] Document remaining risks, other network paths and content filtering needs.
